Life: Have send INR 5 lakh to india
Started by: bijubt on 28 Jun 2011
... 5x. With the Indian govt constantly seeking to boost forex reserves and improve the balance of payments it makes no sense to restrict the inflows. The restriction could perhaps apply to non-banking channels eg WU where bonafides of the remitter are hard to establish - but not to banking customers where customers are known through KYC norms. A quick call to ICICI or SBI will do.

Visiting, Traveling and Picnicing: Problem in applying for the OCI
 Started by: ChunkyCheese12 on 03 May 2012
...Hi northyork_desi, Thanks for the suggestions. I guess my best shot is with the "Verification of entry" form. I'll go to the Indian embassy this week to see if they are satisfied with this as a replacement for my father's lost landing passport. The thing I want to say is the Landing paper is easily replaceable (although it takes at least half a year!) but the missing passport may be a different story but who knows! I'll update this thread with the answer so that future folks don't have to go through the misery!

Planning to buy a house in Markham: ...rybody, I'm planning to buy a house (TH/SEMI) in Markham area. I am not familiar with this area much, so if anybody who is aware with this area, I would like to know about following: 1) Which area I should avoid? 2) Any idea about traffic in rush hour on MaCowan Rd (from 16th Ave to Sheppard) 3) Where can I find some GUJJU/Indian community? I appreciate your time and your ideas/suggestions will be definitely helping me. Thanks, Regards, Jaymin
