Citizenship: New Canadian citizen - going to India in Dec
Started by: GTA on 28 Oct 2006
...Yes, you will need a tourist visa and your son will need one too. Your son will have to fill a separate form. Your Indian pp will be cancelled by the embassy in Toronto, when you apply for a tourist visa. Didn't quite understand who will ask you for a PIO card. It's either a PIO card or a visa to enter India. For a son, may I suggest apply for a PIO card and then apply for a OCI card (if you are planning on one). It's cheaper that way. (Thanks to Chandresh for that tip) For more details check the Consulate's website - http://www.cgitoron

Started by: AAR on 14 Oct 2016
.... Not sure why they are charging him a $ 200 fee for the GIC ! so making it $ 10,200. Looks like an exclusive program for student's from India. So he is right the money has to come form his account in India. Or could be a Joint account with his parent's too. But his name has to be somewhere. if it comes from somewhere else it won't be in Indian Rs., so not sure if Scotia will accept it or not. http://www.scotiabank.com/ca/common/pdf/startright/SSGP-Program-Guide-India-Final-April2016.pdf See " Funding your new account " in PDF above.

As you know to qualify* (pl see below for more on this) for a particular job you must have the matching skill set. Your Indian experience would certainly be given more weightage if you satisfy the 'other' skills. However, if you lack in 'other' skills then your earlier experience would come to a naught. *in fact when a recruiter scans your Resume he looks for job-specific skill sets under the Qualification heading and not your educational qualification.

Where there are humans, prejudices and racism prevail. One of my Indian neighbour's 10 yr old grand daughter stated that her cousin is a bully because his father is a white guy. If Indians can feed such ridiculous notions into their kids, I am sure other races/ethnic groups are also fully capable of racist prejudices.

Some takes: 1. Know the law of land and regard them otherwise you have to regret. 2. If you cannot afford to hire a maid is US, do your own work yourself.

Sports: If I were the captain or manager of Sri Lanka team
Started by: chandresh on 22 Mar 2007
... Crowd support - Another minus for India today. I presume all fans (everyone other than Indian fans) will root for Sri Lanka for the simple reason that their own team (be it NZ, SA, WI, etc.) will have to play Bangladesh and not India in the Super 8, makes it that much easier for them. This one match will bring in the much needed reality check. Testing times indeed. Trinity
