   ...n or a Loblaws (I know you can't really draw comparisions to these but I'm just trying to make a point). I just meant to say that Desis like to shop in crowded and noisy places. Try to imagine a huge Loblaws-style Indian grocery store with elevator music and all the works, where Desis are quietly doing their shopping using neat shopping carts. Can you? To me, it just don't fit! :)

Other than that it's sunflower oil or vegetable oil, whichever I happen to get my hands on, although I hear sunflower oil is better for you. I sometimes use butter in cooking, mostly for Indian chicken dishes or in baking cakes. If I'm not making Indian food, I use olive oil. I once tried to make ghee from butter and although the texture and smell was the same as normal ghee, the colour turned out to be white. :confused: Not quite sure why.    ...It's actually quite a reasonable drive from Mississauga to Guelph in the winter (and assuming you're not in a rush, a beautiful one in the summer / autumn if you stay off the 401 and take the country roads). During the Dec - March period the 401 is reasonably clear and on most winter days you'll take no longer than you would ordinarily any other time of the year. The only trouble spot tends to be the standstill of traffic prior to the Mavis exit in the evenings, in which case I would advise taking Mississauga Rd exit, and using Derry to get to Mav

After a 100 M distance is a shop on the right (before Aladin) known as East Indian or East West store. Inside it is a biriyani shop. Small biriyani is $2.99 and Big biriyani is also there. Inside the Newin centre at the same Dundas St-Hurontario intersection is a Pak. Shop in the food court. He gives 1/4 tandoori,1 roti, some raita and pop for $3 or so.    ...Mississauga is west of Toronto near the Airport not very far from down town toronto...it will take about 30( maybe even less) minutes from heart of missauaga to downtown toronto by car on a good traffic day. if you choose to stay there u can get weekly bus passes for $19. buses are the only mode of transport in mississauga, frequency of service is good but very slow, but most areas in the city is accessible. you can also get weekly/monthly passes for toronto ttc as well.

The drive in terms of distance is about 75kms one way(from that location which south-center of mississauga). It took me about 60 to 70 min max on a good day in winters also almost same time +- 10min. In my opinion if you know your kid is average or above average then you should try for better schools, there is possibility that changing school will raise their bar and they would perform even better. And if they are not able to handle it , you always have option to try not so good schools. Top schools in Mississauga till grade 5 are Kenollie, Mineola, Vista heights Sheridan Park All 4 schhols are in very good neighbourhood, but little expensive then rest of the mississauga.

Last night I went to an indian buffet place called Novelty De Haweli, in Brampton, and the food was great, the selection was great, lots of vege dishes for all you non meat eaters and great lamb and chicken curries, including butter chicken and tandoori chicken. Fresh naans...a huge selection of pickles and condiments, raita....very delicious indian tea and a couple of very nice desserts to top it all off. The decor was pleasant, the music very good, not too loud. I would definately go there again. And for $10 a person you can't go wrong. One question though...are you supposed to tip the waiter guy?...
