Our Native Country!: Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes pulled out of circulation immediately in India !
Started by: futureguy on 08 Nov 2016
...ng to accept Rs. 500 and Rs.1,000 from you. Shopkeepers, taxi drivers, servants, bazaars for fruits and vegetables and groceries, restaurants for dining out, travel agencies, no one will take them. India is still mostly a cash based society, people still don't use credit cards and debit cards that much for daily transactions. 20 % of Indian GDP is still cash based with no tax, no receipts, no electronic trail, no paper trail , nothing. Lot of real estate transactions in India either resale or even by small and medium builder's is done 60 % White and 40 % Black (cash ) basis.

Our Native Country!: Chandrayaan - A waste of tax payers money
Started by: GoldFinger on 14 Nov 2008
...ssions like Chandrayaan – II, space walk, Manned mission to moon etc.. are getting lined up by these ambitious jokers and it’s only gonna increase the burden on the poor Indian tax payer. Space race was something that existed during the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and it’s too late for India to join the band wagon now when the race is all over. Hence I would suggest the Indian govt. to get real and focus on the priorities rather than putting an unnecessary extravagant show at the cost of tax payers money....

While in Toronto, please donot visit Loblaws and Dominion/ Sobeys. They swindle you with prices. Always visit No Frills / Food Basics or Price chopper. cauliflower in Canada comes from california. In Loblaws it is $2.49 +. In Chinese stores it is $1.29 (but it will sometimes be not very very fresh). Cabbage in all cheap stores is $1.29 per unit. Also milk (4L) is around $3.99 to $4.19. Also note that salaries are pretty low in Toronto and Taxes are very very high. Though medical is free, medical care is mostly hopeless. For prescription ...
