Life: Confusion - is it really worth immigrating to Canada?
 Started by: Saru_24 on 12 Jun 2013
...hat gives a wrong impression to a would be immigrant. It would be better if you compare schooling in two countries and let the reader decide what works for him better (neither Indian schools are bad, not Canadian - they are simply different). This forum should be used to educate and help - not to provide a negative opinion about India or Canada. Yes, it is fine to fine to vent out your frustration, but by relating experiences and your choices - rather than giving a judgement statement about the two countries....

We don’t want to administer us ourselves, but would like to outsource it to somebody else. Our “Namaken Vambu” (Why get involved) attitude is very frustrating. Because of this, in a state like TN or Bihar, money meant for the poor is siphoned off by people in power. The corrupt leaders would proclaim, they were born to serve the people until the last drop of blood is left in their body, but in reality do the opposite. To set things ...

Remember, Dogs (or animals) donot have the 6th sense as we humans do and hence there will be no social problems to the puppy. It just needs a good family to be sold into. We will have it checked buy an Indian vet. doctor in India and a Canadian vet. doctor in Canada before selling them. Please see this as a pure business venture. TK A Sidenote : I will not be breeding any puppy. This business is only buying a puppy in India, Transporting it to Canada and selling it to a pet store in USA and/ or Canada.

However, make sure that the pictures are finished in "glossy" and not "matte" as the Indian consulate does not accept the matte finish as their scanners are not able to scan it. (don't laugh, this is serious stuff :D. ) There is not much of a deviation in prices and they are pretty standard. ...

...ve you calculated how many Indians, Americans, Aussies, Europeans are living in debt, either credit card, home loans, car loans, study loans (these days) etc.? Are you aware how many farmers in India are living below the poverty line due to the ever growing debt? In Indian metropolitans, it has also become a norm to buy evreything with credit card. Life: Hobbies
 Started by: l5a on 09 Mar 2006
... Movies and music are my obsession - it is not a hobby anymore. I need to listen to atleast one song of Kishore or Lata or any Pancham composition before I enter my office. It is almost a basic need for me just like food, air and water. I watch movies during weekend - college life was spent watching Bollywood movies - now it is mainly Hollywood. Kill Bill made me a Tarantino fan, Analyze This made me Robert De Niro fan. I mainly watch Robert De Niro, Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Robin Williams and Al Pacino movies. I have lost interest in Bollywood movies, unless movies like RDB come by - which is a rarity. And yeah - of course there is Simpsons - atleast two episodes every weekday and four...

Relocation: How to ship household stuff back to India
 Started by: 7seasfar on 29 Mar 2012
...sted by tamilkuravan Your quote was for door to door. That is why it is so high as they account for bribe, agent fees in India etc... If you try for a Door to Port, it will be in the $ 1500+ range. You will have to clear it from the port. For any port, some agent from the indian port will call you and clear the contents for you. The statutory charges will be in the range of Rs.30000 (Depends on the quantity of goods) + Bribe (optional). May be if it is Mumbai port or Chennai port, bribe might be less/nil. All the best. Peace
Good to know Door to Port is much cheaper than Door to Door.

I miss most of the things from food, festivals, culture...to cars. I don’t know how long I hv to stay here to achive what I came for but I am sure about my retire life will be in India.. I wanna burried in my motherland
its obvious from this post that you miss India quite a bit. Thats normal and its ok. Talk about it, go through your feelings, visit India if possible etc. There are many activities in your local community you can participate in, that are part of the "culture" of your province/city.
