The only interviews that I have got till now are from agencies, and they all say that it is very difficult to convince that this guy only holds an Indian passport and qualification - rest everything is western about him. Perhaps my problem is that even though I have never worked in India (except for 4 months in Indian Rayon), my resume does not show any multinational - so how to believe that he can sit with Canadians!!! Job finding clubs and Skills for change have told me that even after toning down my resume and mannerisms, I do convey a feeling of seniority and ...

Cabs are cheap & well regulated ... Never hesitate to hop in one. Drivers would be from Indian sub continent. In terms of attractions if I had to recommend ... I would suggest hiring a cabbie to take you on a tour of Dubai .. from Jumeirah to Palm Islands (Atlantis) on the one end to back via Jumeirah to Shaikh Zayyed Road and all ... This I assume would be an excellent way of seeing Dubai. Attractions a. Dubai Mall & Musical Fountains ( evenings 7 pm onwards) b. Jumeirah Beach ( Burj al Arab side...

When you stamp the Canadian Visa and leave your home country.......you should be willing to accept these facts............. BBC and the other Tv channels show 24 hours about India as the land of snake chalmers, beggars, povery, idol worship, elephants...etc etc. They dont care about the moral values and the family values there........ Before Immigrating people know 100 things about Canada......like CN Tower, Niagra falls, good Infrastructure, better lifestyle bla bla...... How come no research was done on the negative side of this country?????? What might be wrong for us migt be OK for the "...

Our Native Country!: Impressions and Experiences from a visit to Ramlila Grounds
Started by: vagg on 29 Aug 2011
... The irony of it all was not lost on me. Here were these multitudes who had come in support of a fasting man and were being filled to the brim by rest of the society ! Reverting to the topic of litter and bins, the ground, slushy and muddy as it was, was full of litter. Despite the best efforts of the volunteers. After all, we are Indians. How can we live in cleanliness ? Then I saw a very well off, middle aged lady, the kind you will see in your (posh) neighbourhood; pick up a cane basket and get down to the task of picking up littered plates, trays, plastic pouches etc. and transfer them to the bins. It was a strange phenomena. A high caste lady cleaning up the muck thrown around ...

...Hey Anand, Vegetarianism is bad for ya health in Beef country (esp Triple A Alberta Beef)... You need a steak, a cowgirl ( Canadian MAAMI :D) and a bottle of beer to enjoy life there :) BTW what kinda job are you in Calgary ? North West or North East ? NE has many Indian stores.. and a few restaurants. Also da hotbed of Gang's ;) N.W is da reserved area...posh and more quiet. Yeah, I agree with you. The only incentive in living in Alberta is no PST, and that makes a helluva difference. I realized that when I came to Ottawa...(in those days, was an International student !    ...
Orginally posted by sanjeevm I think acceptance of East Indian Browns by Whites in their country is little different from accepting gays / lesbians into the society. Atleast browns were also following the laws of nature, their habits or may be their culture or the family values were different but here we are discussing something which is going to affect the whole society irrespective of the cultural or ethnic background or skin color. My thoughts!!
so its not the familiy values OR cultural values...

I may interact with white people in my office and during work but for social life i prefer to be with Tamilians and some indians. I immigrated only for doing work and due to the exchange rate of this currency when compared to the Indian rupee. TK A ...

Life: What about our children?

I do not say that it is not possible, but to live in Canada entirely following Indian values and ideologies is impractical, if not impossible. Parents should step into the shoes of children and then look around how they would react when they go to school and things are done in a different manner. Even in India, peer pressure is such a thing which can force a child to forget what happens in his own house/family, when most of the peers come from similar families - then how do you expect th...
