I dont disagree that there is a find balance, but the balance does not have to be so illusive if the moderators made is clear the expectations of this forum and enforce that across the board. You cannot have set of rules that apply when we talk about "indian" topics.. and not apply the same rule when you talk about "canadian topics". As for me complaining, I am not. I have no control over this to change it, if anything.. I am just highlighting the issue. My comments could be considered as complaints if I was to somehow benefit from the change. The core issue is that tomorrow.. some moderator could...

The misunderstandings between the ladies at home affected our relationship at work. I explained this to my employer a number of times. Any person in power can abuse it to oppress person below them. e.g. - The character of mother-in-law in Indian society is most of time an evil one who oppresses or tortures her daughter-in-law until the point of burning/killing her. Or movie/novel "Disclosure", where Michael Crichton has explained this whole concept of power and its abuse. Also, it is a fact that women are being more vocal in their feelings against oppression than men. Men are more of \"silent sufferers\". I still know its going to be stellar performance. I do feel yes, maybe the prices have alienated working class families who love indian movies and would like to go and maybe in the future that would be taken to consideration. Again, the closer seating and stage should make up for that. Everyone will be able to see them I'm sure....Live performances are far more fun than you think. This is hyperbole, there are thousands upon thousands of desis who are doing quite well here. It really is a beautiful country and although there may be some initial challenges, most people do settle down quite nicely over time. What I've found is most people who are good in communication and enterprising do quite well. People who are poor in ...

RBI will permit you to take out if an accountant certifies that the sum was your own in India and you are entitled to take that out with out penalty. Approximately a Million per year. Check with an Indian Accountant and FEMA. A Few Bank Managers will help you accomplish this with ease. 3) Father to Son , No gift taxes in India. Here in Canada NO taxes on GIFTS. Hope this helps you a little. Freddie.
...

Then they never saw the man nor his assistant, only monkeys everywhere!! !! - ________________________________________________________ It was autumn, and the Red Indians on the remote reservation asked their New Chief if the winter was going to be cold or mild. Since he was a Red Indian chief in a modern society, he couldn't tell what the weather was going to be. Nevertheless, to be on the safe side, he replied to his Tribe that the winter was indeed going to be cold and that the members of the village should collect wood to be prepared. But also being a practical leader, after several days he got a...

Life: Does caste-ism exist in Canada?

...ing simpler jobs and low wages as maids etc because they are simpler, less intelligent people... it didn't fit with how I knew the person as a "human rights" advocate in Canada. ANYWAY. I'm wondering if caste is an issue in Canada? Are Indian-Canadians aware of each others caste? Do most come from the same caste? I'm just curious. I try to stick to general discussion here, but since I have access to so many desis I thought you might be able to indulge my curiousity about this issue.
People living in rural india are more interested in caste than their urban counterparts in india . so if people who have immigrated from rural india care more about the caste than...

How many Indian executives can I do that with without tripping their ego or without calling that person "Sir"? Again, it is not a fault, but a well accepted and required tradition and practice that we all need to be sensitive when working globally. Anyway, I have totally digressed. Happy reading :) ...

People take law into their own hands, which means more cases and again more work. Thus a vicious cycle and courts are at breaking point. During the last 65 years Hindu temple properties have been looted by the governments in the name of secularism. When these cases have piled up on courts it is no surprise that voices of secularism are getting even more noisy. These days we also have a doubt, whether all these are part of...

Why is vibrancy only found when the author describes 'back home' and then a sense of dulling.. of perpetual cloudy days and loneliness? Do people who read South Indian lit. find that it resonates with the reality of their lives?
Yes I definately think that the stories of South Asian authors resonates with reality for alot of people. It is exactly that sense of loss of family/friends/social life and the feeling of not belonging that hits a chord with many readers. I know that you do not really "lose...

Have to face the truth........same thing happens in India/Mumbai too. But that does not mean Indian RE is going to crash !!! Interest rate going up never has crashed RE market in the history. Give me an proof that US RE market crashed because interest rates went up....& then we would debate on that. Until then keep on dreaming.... Maybe if the interest rate rises by 5% in a year then it would effect people, but that is never going to happen with current inflation conditions. Canada would have to wait years to actually raise interest...
