FYI, I never refer to a White Canadian as a gora myself, when I speak with one there's no feelings like "oh wow! I'm speaking to a gora!". The feeling's mostly no different from speaking to another Canadian who may be an Indian or a Pakistani. Hard to comprehend? Among her acts of courage was her refusal to collect US passports and hiding some of them as the hijackers sought to isolate Americans and Indians. She knew they meant business when one of the hijackers pulled Rajesh Kumar, a 29-year-old Indian American California resident to the front of the aircraft, asked him to kneel at the door, and shot him in the head when their demand for a new flight crew was not met. Neerja died shielding three children from gunfire as a bloody massacre erupted ...

Nenshi, 38, originally considered a long shot, defeated longtime alderman Ric McIver and former TV anchor Barb Higgins in a race that attracted voters in droves. By midnight, Nenshi had opened a lead of more than 21,000 votes over second-place McIver, capturing about 39 per cent of the popular vote, compared with McIver at 32 per cent ...

No surprise therefore that sons-in-law of wealthy, powerful families make news, mostly for wrong reasons. Some months ago, Robert Vadra, son-in-law of Sonia Gandhi, was in the news for building, in just four years, real estate empire worth couple of billion Dollars [Rs 11,000 crore], according to California’s Celebritynetworth.com, which even the media that adores Sonia Gandhi had to confess as reeking of corruption. When Arvind Kejriwal exposed ...

We are always like this as even when our Indian parliament was attacked nobody thanked the heroes who defended the parliament and laid down the life in defense of our democracy!. Incidentally many are defending the perpetrators in court and want presidential pardon(Afzal Guru !). May be my fellow Desi's were eating Diwali sweets, bursting crackers and watching Happy New Year at Woodbridge Cinema !, when rest of Canada was saluting you!. May be it is NOT a big deal for my fellow Desi's as they value your Dollars, demo...

When we look at Central Asia/Middle East like Iran, was one of the centres of cultural evolution from way back BC times till Shah of Iran's period. Check where it is now ?. The reason you are seeing this(it did exist before) is that the Indian News Media has become very Aggressive & dynamic. If you have access to NDTV 24/7 or ZEE news you'll know. In a recent news report, ZEE News showed all the establishments of Dawood in Karachi, even long shots of his house in Karachi the only thing they did not do was presenting the address or his personal telephone number. If you watch local news on TV from India the current trend is that there ar...

...n empire of big ideas and very small cars, part 4 MARCUS GEE From Friday's Globe and Mail E-mail Marcus Gee | Read Bio | Latest Columns April 11, 2008 at 1:09 AM EDT MUMBAI — The story of the world's cheapest car begins on a rainy day in Bangalore. Ratan Tata was in the south Indian city on business and on his way to the airport. The head of India's most famous business empire told his driver to be careful on the slick roadway. As usual in India's crazy traffic, the streets were full of dodging scooters, many of them carrying whole families: father at the controls, mother holding on behind, children riding on their laps. Typically, none of them were wearing helmets. ...

Relocation: USA Vs CANADA

My Opinion: ...t I didn't get a job. I did manage to find a job with all those years spent in universities back home and here in the US. Its a decent one too. But candian life sucks in general. I'll pen down the reasons for my decesion: 1. Owr own countrymen: Yes, our fellow indians who come to canada in hordes, most of them illegally, seeking refugee status. Most of them are uneducated and paint a very bad picture of India. I refuse to be a part of that crowd. Not to say they indulge in illegal activities and act like holigans. Indians in the US are educated and you will rarely find anyone indulging in illegal activities. Infact they are considered to be one of the most peace loving communities. U...

NOTE: Being a very good communicator does not mean having the perfect accent. As long as you speak properly and refrain from using Indian slang you should fine. So stop using the “they-cant-understand-me-because-of-my-accent excuse.” Because people from Europe have all sorts of accents yet people are able to understand them because their English is grammatically perfect. 1)Slow Down: I don’t know why but people from India tend to speak English extremely fast. Don’t try to match your thought pro...

It was easy for them as western countries had a much better growth rate at that time With the way Indian job market is right now, its normal to feel cocky until you come over to Canada and face ground reality. That said, I don't want to scare you off. All I want to say is that there is more competition for fewer jobs in Canada. But, hey if you are that smart person, who knows you can be one of those people who is successful. Unlike USA where you get a job first and PR later, Canadian system gives you PR first and then you have to hunt for job. There are three types of people you fin...
