Village of India in Mississauga and Indian Chef in Scarborough - both these joints have good Punjabi food and it would just cost about 10 dollars per person. I also hate the Saravana bhavan Uniform for waiters- Mofussil bus stand eating outlet uniform. Even the ambience is no good. Wash basin - Hand wash board- all these remind us of typical south indian hotels near railyway stations and Bus stand. You may slip and fall - no carpet and it is very slippery. Why stay @ Mississauga when you can stay @ Down Town with much better transit . Food should not be a criteria as you can manage with the ready to eat Indian curries available at any Indian store for $2 /- . Thats better than 10 bodies sharing a single wash room and kitchen. I think these sub standard guest houses flourish on the Indian new comers lack of awareness and compromise a lot on quality. ...

So you have access to both Mississauga & Downtown Toronto. Scarborough is a ghetto , lot of crime ..& schools are not good either for kids. Brampton will be tough to travel, if you don't have a car. Even if you have a car driving in winter & snow storms is a nightmare..lot of accidents etc. Try to stay within TTC or GO transit or Mississa

You may not be able to pack a lot of cooked food for your roadside journey as in South India's warm climate food gets spoilt very easily. Idlis might last a day. I would suggest not to order north indian items in a typical south indian restaurant. It may not come up to your expectations. Stick with south indian items like idli, dosa, pongal, curd rice, lemon rice, etc.

There is literally no resturant or food joint out there that does not use food components derived from animals one way or the other, whether knowingly or unknowingly.
