Of course only after a formal investigation. I can honestly say there are several Indian restaurants in Sydney who I personally will never go to or would recommend to any one. Simple facts, when starting the business they provide the customers with excellent service, the food proportion is adequate and the quality is top notch, but once the business picks up they start cutting on their food cost and overheads to make more money. Some ingredients may be different from the ones used in India, but then how do you explain food in London(UK)? Some folks believe London has the finest Indian food available, and this is due to successful fusion of Continental ingredients with desi spices. No mean feat considering European flavour is primarily based on herbs and desi flavour comes from spices.

In general, all cultures across the world developed food and food habits based on local availability and needs. With globalization when we try to eat a food not designed for our body or climate conditions, it is definitely going to create problems. The food habits across US are same and so the most obsess people are in the south belt, as they are eating food suitable for cold climates and adverse for hot climates.

   ...In Ontario we have chain of some big grocery stores such as Price Chopper, Food Basics ( cheaper one), Longo’s, Fortinos, Loblaws, etc. On all stores prices are very competitive and reasonable. Longo’s is famous for fresh produce stuff. All these stores carry very selected South East Asian foodstuff only. So for East Indian food stuff you will have to visit East Indian stores and to get best price you will have to do some research. Being a new immigrant I don't think that you have to take any extra precaution. Thanks and regards. Biomed
