we are thinking of completing the landing formalities for canada in December return back to ME in January 2006.

Don't let the Canadian winters bias your judgement ;)

Your decision is very wise.
Nothing like first hand knowledge.
It is well worth the expense.

In any case both places have their big brothers(sisters?) in neighbourhood.

Winter in Vancouver December is same as winter in Auckland in June, they are down under and their winter is june and july. Almost same temperature in both the countries

If you are into engineering sector, then Canada might be a better option as atleast you have the hope of getting a job in your field. In New Zealand, not much of engineering industries which is what I have heard.

Ofcourse you must have evaluated New Zealand better. If you guys have the entrepreunerial spirit, I would recommend investing your money in some business in Canada/New Zealand instead of trying to evaluate both places.

I for one feel that you might not be able to evaluate enough in 2 months.

Thanks & regards.

Rajan.

Thanks Rajand,

No we are not in engineering sector. My husband is in IT (networking), we know that there is a very high demand in NZ for IT jobs. We are not just going to visit Canada and NZ for two months. My husband will be applying for jobs in both the countries and take the best option.

Are you sure? Maybe there is a good demand in Australia (no better than Canada, in my opinion), but NZ? If you have any relevant links to that effect, please post.

Are you there?

Got the New Zealand immigration ok yesterday, actually we had applied to both the places Canada and NZ and now both are ok.

Can’t afford going to both the places and have to choose one. CD members if any of you were in this situation what would you do?

Pro and Cons of both the places, simple, I like both the places that’s why the decision is very difficult for us.

Any suggestions?? :)

I think you can have both - because NZ allows a life time PR once you have completed some basic stay (whichis definitely less than three years). I have got two friends (once of whom now lives in Canada and his daughter is living/studying in NZ) who have got both NZ and Canadian PRs.
