After April 2004, CIC and the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) will
conduct business with immigration representatives who charge fees only if
they are members in good standing with CSIC (Registered Consultants) or with the Provincial and Territorial Law Societies (LAWYERS).

this sucks. we will have to unnecessarily shell out extra money since canadian immigration is so simple that a bonfide qualified candidate can get the job done with minimal external aid.
Good for these lawyers though

The new law does not compel applicant to go through lawyers. It will clean up and protect prospective applicants from UNSCRUPULOUS & INCOMPETENT consultants.
