They make very hot dishes. A little too hot.
You know it when you can see the red chilli powder.

We visited a Hakka Indo Chinese restaurant last weekend after reading good reviews - It is Faley @ 42 Rexdale , Etobicoke .. They do have a branch @ Scarborough also .
We are used to going at Wang's Mississauga but found the food here better spiced and reasonably priced with decent portions ... Though a small joint in an un assuming strip mall ( Rexdale / Islington ) , the place was full on a Sunday evening .... Our only peeve was that being vegetarians , there was non veg smell coming around .. possibly because the kitchen was close by or just because the restaurant is small ... Would order a takeaway next time onwards .
The chilli paneer (ordered extra spicy) and veg fried noodles were excellent .. the Hakka chowmein was not as good ...

This is a long standing thread and I was reminded of this by the other Guajarati food thread .
Have not updated this thread for a while ( and so for the others also so folks please share and post your experience both good and bad for other Desis to take cue from )
We never visited Faleys in Rexdale after the above post as some how being vegetarians , something did not seem comfortable , first in the restaurant where there were cooking smells and then even in the takeaway portion .... May not be the best place for veggies but still very popular ... Have never been disappointed @ Wangs Mississauga ... their schezuan noodles are spicy and a hit with me.
Visited the Hakka Retaurant on Islington ( near Rajdhani ) ... Nice place to sit but the food was not very impressive ... will not visit again.
Found a good experience @ Moti Mahal in Mississauga ( near 401 Mavis) on a couple of visits .. this is another location of the Moti Mahal @ Gerrard St. .... Kind of different food and the experience was good ... The tea was also good ..... I recall that I would prefer the rotis to naans ... reason I cannot recollect clearly now since it has been quite some time.
In Down Town , though I ve visited quite a few places , one place which I like going back to every time is Dhaba @ 309 Front St.
As far as S Indian we still stay with Swagruhas , Nilgiris Brampton and Udupi ....
Please share in your experiences also.

Hi ,
I recall this as the longest running thread on Desi Restaurants in the GTA and it names almost all the successful popular ones ...
So much so I felt like updating it after our weekend visit to 'Doaba' @ 305 Charlois Blvd . Brampton.
The food was refreshingly different tasting ( when you have been repeatedly visiting a few restaurants , you know what to expect ).
There were good number of varieties to chose from for the veg thali and the 3 entrees that I took were good and differently tasting .... The naans were soft and so were the tandoori rotis . And I did not experience a bad after feeling also ... @ $7 for a veg thali , the price is reasonable as well.
The food is though on the oily side but I have added this to my short list of frequently visit able 'Rajdhani' , 'India's Taste' & 'Sanjhi Rasoi' for North Indian and 'Udupi Madras Cafe' , 'Swagruhas' and 'Nilgiris' for South Indian .
Share yours latest recommended ones also !!
