I and my family plan to land in Vancouver to fulfill the landing formalities around the end of Oct 2005. I am currently working in USA. We plan to stay their for 2 days.
1. We plan to reach vancouver by road (bus/car)/train. IS there anything in particular we need to be aware of?
1. What is the minimum amount that u need to show as proof of funds?
2. Since we do not know any body in Vancouver and we are required to provide Canadian address for the PR card...would really appreciate if any body could help us in this regard.
3. After the formalities are done...we wish to see vancouver. I would like to know if i can rent a car and drive using my US Drivers license?
4. Also can u suggest us any good accomadation in vancouver,as i did not find any in the clasified section in the forum for vancouver.
Try 401 Motor Inn- http://www.401motorinn.com/
Go through http://www.tourismbc.com/
You can always rent a car. Or you can still drive in Canada using the same car, ie, if you are renting one from US.You can rent and drive with your US license.
Do not forget to keep your goods to follow list in 2 sets.Otherwise you will
not be able to bring your jewels, cars, etc, etc, without paying tax.
Go through your visa papers. The amount will be mentioned there.Get cashier's check or money order . You can simply deposit them back when you go back.

HOPE
Thanks for your suggesstion hope. I also wanted to know one more thing...
Mine and my family visa has got expired sometime back...but our I 94 is valid till 2007. After i finish my formalities in canada ...will I have any re-entry problem to come back to US?
Hi,
You can show the bank statements from US for proof of funds.
You can use automatic revalidation to enter into US if your I-94 is valid until 2007. But don't surrender your I-94 while exiting US.
Hi byline ,
Strictly speaking there will be no problem if your papers are in order and you return within 30 days. You also can renew H1B visa here. It may take around 30 days to get an appointment.
Monk
thanks rajen & Monk,
Well actually i am on L1 and my family is on L2. I guess this should not be a problem too rite?
Is getting a letter from your company a mandatory thing?. My wife is the principal applicant and I and my daughter are sponsored applicant. My wife is presently not working...so should I get a letter of service of some sort from my employer.
It is better you carry your pay stubs ,Employment letter
