Is anyone's wife earning more than the husband? If so, does it affect your psyche?
Will any Desi dad be willing to be a stay-home-dad, for the sake of children, if the wife is in a well-paid job?
;)

Anytime. Actually, before the kids were born, me and the mrs had a deal that the higher earning person would go to work and the other would stay with the kids @ home. I turned out to be the one making the bigger amount so she stayed at home. That she ended up starting her own biz from home is another story and was not in our plans.

Even now If she were to make enough $ to maintain our current lifestyle, we would flip the current system so I stayed at home.It helps that I can make $ even out of home in my line of work but then it would be at my own pace and much more fun.

Yes my wife does make more than I do - whenever I do that is!!!

However, she does not make enough so that I can be stay at home dad - however much I love that idea! It is a different thing that she does not like that and would like to go back to stay at home mom situation she was in before we came to Canada.

About psyche? Yes it does affect - I feel more relaxed now!

I have a friend who had a very good job but became unemployed in his early 40s. His wife went to work and in a couple of years was making decent money. This guy was still underemployed and making less money than her. But the wife made it a point NOT to make him feel that. She INSISTED on doing the housework , looked after the kids , made sure that the kids understood that this situation was TEMPORARY and was not due to their dad's incompetence. She made sure that no one in their social circle/family knew the fact that she was making more than him.

She believes strongly that he is the more competent person and his situation is more due to him coming to this screwed up country.

Even so he feels MISERABLE and a FAILURE. (It doesn't help that all his brothers are very well employed in the U.S and India and none of his sisters-in-law work) I talk to him almost every week trying to boost his self-esteem.

I have been pushing my wife to make the combined salary of both of us. Darn it...she won't listen. I love housework, especially around the yard. I don't have kids yet, but I have absolutely no problem staying at home and taking care of kids as well....remember, you get to take a nap as well if you are at home...;)

Well, right now, we both earn similar amounts within couple of thousand $.
