As Mumbai (Bollywood) is the film capital of India and Los Angeles (Hollywood) is the film capital of USA,

What is the film capital of Canada?

Thanks

I dont think there is such a centre in Canada.
Canadians themselves go down south to make a career in movies, tv, theatre.
Canada however is a big destination for many American movies as far as studio facilities go.

Thanks mercury6.

Where are those studios located? I heard that Montreal is the place with full of theatre and art centers, is that true?

All I am trying to find out is, where do people go when they want to break into the film/TV industry in Canada (before moving down south to LA and NY)?

Thanks for your time.

Has to be in Toronto/Montreal/Vancouver, the 3 big centers of Culture & Arts in Canada. Exact names and locations can be found if you are interested.

The local scene is always where people start, be it standup or music.
You do the local circuit - province - country - international.
Exceptional talent and/or the right backing can mean you jump directly to International. Which for Canadians mean USA.

For acting I am not sure , theatre is the only way to do it.

all the best.

If you come to Montreal, look me up. I'm working on a music vid and am also switching to a job in the fx film/tv industry on nov 1st. Other interests/projects include film/docs etc. Always looking to hookup with others in the industry.

mercury6 and jake3d,

I would like to learn how to make documentaries (Writing/Directing/Producing). I also like cinematography. I have never done anything that is even closely related to film/tv/doc, other than taking a class in “camera techniques”.

I am planning on moving to Canada (most likely to Montreal), if I get my PR. After reading sad stories of people in this forum, it looks like I have to start from the bottom whatever I do in Canada. In that case, I would like to follow my dream which is writing/directing and if I have money, producing too. I do not mind acting, if I get a chance. Even if I am able to secure a good job in other area, I would still like to get into film/tv industry.

jake3d, I will contact you if I make it to Quebec.

Thanks
