We often hear ourselves and others saying 'Wish I had little more money!' Are you one of those persons who always wait for the next raise? Do you often find yourself short of cash when needed? If yes, here are some tips for you to ensure that what you earn is always ENOUGH.
• Generally, the problem lies in figuring out how to live within your means. As your income level goes up so does your appetite for more. There’s nothing wrong with this, but it is in your interest to keep a check on where your money is going.
• Ensure that you buy only what you really need and what you really want this way you will soon always have 'enough’ money. Imbibe some discipline into your spending habits.
• Allow yourself to feel that you have 'enough'. This will help in squandering less money on stuff you don't need. Thus, you can save more.
• Build an emergency fund to handle unexpected expenses. This allows you to become your own lending agency.
• Credit cards may be a cash-flow management tool, but paying only the minimum will keep you in debt for years. Simply wait till you've saved enough money to make purchases. This way, you can eliminate interest payments entirely.
• Do you eat out often? There’s nothing wrong with that, but eat outs sure do cost lot more than eating at home. The problem is also when you add the alcohol bill. Alcohol in restaurants is much more expensive.
• How many clothes and shoes you have in your wardrobe that you’ve not worn more than once? When you are buying something, make sure that it fits you well and that you’re sure you like it.
• We all like to indulge in sunglasses, watches, jewellery, perfumes, etc. But do we use all that stuff we’ve bought? By all means indulge, but prudently. Do you really need to take your car to work every day? Public transport (trains, the bus) could, in fact, prove faster and cheaper.
Hope these tips help you in having ‘enough’ dough. Do you have better advice? Then do write in to us with your tips at
