Dear friends,
I shall be landing within a year or so in Toronto. Before landing I would like to know what the cost of living is for two in Toronto. It will be highly appreciated if any of you can give approximate/average cost of certain key items listed below.
Electricity
Water
Gas(Petrol) per litre/galon whatsoever for car
Public Transport (Average) if no own car
Monthly Grocery (Indian-Veggie only, no alcohol) for two people
Rent per month (If Apartment, If Sharing, If Basement, Any other suitable for initial settlement)
Telephone Landline(Average)
Mobile (Average)
Internet (Average)
Miscellaneous (If missed any other unavoidable cost in above )
Our Lifestyle is simple tough we are living in the Middle East. Buy and spend for what we really need is our policy. So you may consider accordingly in answering the queries

Hi Mapledreams,
I understand your concern , I was going through the same anxiety . It is very much obvious one is worrying as to what he has to work for, (How much , one should or one has to earn to atleast make ends met ).
I am here in TO since last 1 year, family of 5 adults, living in a 3BR appt @ DOnmills& Sheppard,*($1228) rent pm+55 for parking.
Grocery food, fruits,(my wife cooks food for all of us) including 1 dinner outside in a veg restaurant , once a week= $800-1000.
Car Ins=118 pm
Transport, is max $ 98 per person TTC pass, for each individual working adult, $ 83 pm if studying in high school (student pass)
Petrol=175 lit of gas PM approx 150 $, includes all my travel, & family travel together.
I have no cable TV connection, unliited internet from 295.ca@ $3.16 pm
Cell phone for me only @$40 pm month FIDO unlimited incoming package,
Home tel line @ $ 30 pm, Water, heat , Light included in rent.
Add to this the expenses you need to buy personal clothings, cosmetics, or any luxury you indulge in .We buy DVD, rent it from video stores.
DVD rents $ 2 per movie (with membership), corner video store.
DVD rents from $ 1 per week of view charge(! dvd contains programme of 1 week telecast in India) of for all hindi serials of star plus, and othe r hindi channels from scarborough.
Add to this personal medicines expenses as per your individual needs.
Summary of my expenses approx 2500 pm for a family of 5 adults, strictly veg , food.
This can give you fairly good idea of day to day living expenses in TO.
