Unfortunately, most people do not consider this cost in their cost calculations. Chandresh, you are right in pointing out this.

Seenappa, I can understand that 50 dollars can be a lot for some people in Canada. Why dont you ask one of the agencies to give you an extra night of work (like armor, etc.) where you could make this extra 50 bucks, and travel in peace by hiring a taxi on the day of travel :-)

I believe the best thing for Seenappa is to take taxi. Afterall, he had already spent couple of thousands of dollars on air fare and pre-travel gift purchases. He is going after 2 years and it is a long journey to India. He better think in practical terms - if he can spend a few thousand dollars on travel, why not spend few extra dollars to save time and effort by hiring a taxi. I believe he can always work extra hours or save somewhere else to make up for the money he is spending here.

By the way I used to travel from London gatwick Airport to Toronto and travel to the airport used to take me one and half hours (I had to take two buses) + I had to reach the air port atleast two and half hours before travel as it was an international flight. It used to take me between four hours to four and half hours from my home till the time I can board the plane.

Seenappa: Plan ahead and make sure the taxi / chinese cab guy would come on time. (Add some extra time incase the taxi / chinese cab is late)
