After the above letter me and my wife are thinking if we can move to dubai for job search.
My question is :
(our 3 1/2 month old infant child is a canadian citizen, i will be a canadian citizen by july 2006)
if we go to dubai and stay on our jobs for 4 or 5 years we will be losing our permanent residency. will this affect our child's right to stay in canada ( i know from the website that it says that canadian citizens are allowed to stay for longer periods away from canada but it does not say specifically the time). we are not interested in coming to canada but we want to keep the option as a backup. (or we might just use it to come to canada, apply for immigration to australia and then move there) but we need to have the right to come to canada. do CD's suggest that i get canadian citizenship and then move. if so how long can i be away from canada? my wife still has 1 1/2 year left to apply for canadian citizenship. I am not very keen in her getting canadian citizenship as i can sponser her later from canada.
Let CD's share their knowledge.

No, it will not affect your child's rights. But there is no point in that as you would not want your child to stay alone in Canada, once you both lose your status.

Better wait for another six months to get your citizenship, if citizenship is your priority. Once you have it, your wife can have her PR status renewed anytime during your life as long as you both are still married.

Faisal,
Thanks for your inputs.
To clarify:
Why i wanted to know if the child can come back to canada once their parents lose their rights was b'cos may be after 18-20 years i may send her for her studies in canada. By that time she can take care of herself by herself. I will get her a PIO card/OCI so that she can stay in india (if need warrents it). And i am keeping this plan as a back up.
Of late , i am not at all interested in the oppertunities that canada give us immigrants.
Thanks

Are you sure you want to move to Dubai for only Dhs12k/month (CAD 45k per annum)? bear in mind that life in Dubai is not cheap. Yes, you will be able to save some money (amunt depends on the life style you lead) but it is not a picnic, believe me. I used to work there untill recently. accommodation will cost you at least 25% of that monthly salary for a 1BR+hall flat in the cheap side of the city.

I guess the other question is what position have you been offered? and what kind of experience you have?
