Hello,
I wil be moving to Toronto in a couple of months. Is it worth bringing hard furniture in cargo
Anyone moved earlier from Gulf, can please share their experiences.
Cheers,
get a container from there. it should cost you 2 to 3000$, I would think the nearesr port will be halifax and then inland haulage. there are comppanies that will give you a all inclusive package. there is a toronto based company called eagle Maritime. phone : 905-457-7474 his name is gurpreet. we use them always for our business. and they always get us best rate. call them and find out
we just moved in from the gulf and our container is on the way, yet to reach us. we have lots of furniture like wardrobes, king size bed, day bed, tv cabinet, shoe cabinet, kitchen cabinet etc.....
you should NOT bring wardrobes as most houses here have built in wardrobes. probably you will be renting an apartment or a condo in the 1st year. these are smaller than the ones in UAE and you might have a space crunch. the bedrooms are really small.... however there are older building with apartments which are bigger but the building maybe upto 30 yrs old and laundry facilities in the basement, making you go down to wash clothes every time.
ofcourse, if you are coming with a bagful of money and plan to buy a townhouse, then these will be much bigger but again wardrobes you should think twice before you ship them here.
so do consult more people before you bring in stuff.

Bravo,
Can you tell me how much id it cost you to move a container (20 ft or 40 ft). Also, did you do door-to-door
Did you move from Bahrain. If yes, which cargo aganet you have used
Cheers
"Bagful and still only a townhouse????????? I brought a pocketful and bought a single family large house! (ofcourse with mortgage!!!)"
Maybe you carried thousand dollar bills in your pocket!
The Canadian dollar has gone up! A house in Mississauga which could be bought for 500,000 Dirham in 2000 will cost you 1,300,000 Dirham now! He really needs a bag of money to buy a townhome!
