ofcourse, if you are coming with a bagful of money and plan to buy a townhouse,

Bagful and still only a townhouse????????? I brought a pocketful and bought a single family large house! (ofcourse with mortgage!!!)

i am sure you cant get mortgage in the first 8 to 12 months of moving here unless you make a down payment of 30% to 40%, which is quite high

I have shipped all my furniture from Sharjah to Vancouver last February. It has cost me CAD 5,000. I opted for a door-to-door option and the shipper was responsible for the packing and unpacking. They even cleaned the place after finishing at both ends. I had a lot of fairly new and expensive furniture. I knew exactly where I going to live. The place is big enough for my furniture. I shipped a 20 ft cotainer.

Having said that, if I did not know where I was going to stay and if the furniture was not good enough to make it financially feasible, I think I would have thought twice before shipping anything. I have a couple of friends whom have migrated since and they did not ship anything.

that is a very good deal..... can you part with the shipper's / agent's name and details so it would help in future.
