Could someone please share their recent experience of receiving the PR card? Is it mailed to your address directly, or can you select to pick up in person at some official place? How long is the wait to receive the card after landing/submitting the application? Appreciate any insight.
I have not applied for it yet, but based on friends experience you have to go personally to pick-it up on specified date and time.

I am looking for a 2 bed apartment in either Mississuaga or Markham area between Aug 15 - Sep 1 this summer. This is the period that I plan to visit Canada, my second trip, with my immediate family of wife and three children. My budget is not more than CAD$ 1,000/-
I expect to get my OHIP card, G-Driving Lic and PRC made, as the last time that I was there, they had a strike for almost 10-12 weeks. Is the time sufficient for all this.
Any clues?
My work email is for any direct correspondence or cell#: +966-555 90 829
Khursid,
You should post your requirement at http://www.canadiandesi.ca/postercategory.php?CID=8
You will get more exposure there.
As you might be knowing you will get OHIP Card after 3 months. PR Card will not be available for you immediately, for your family if they are coming first time they will get at Air Port. G License??? You never know - I know a person who got G License in just one day!!
And there are lots of people even after 2 years just walking and TTCing!!

I have applied for my PR Card on Feb/2003. I got my papers returned to me later the same month informing me that I need to provide a valid passport photos and that the passport that I am holding is not recognized ( it is a travelling document not a passport).
This is the same passport that I obtained my landing with and I don't know what to do since no body sees to know anyhting about this issue.
I need to do it well before 12/2003 since I am planning to travel in 2004. The PR Card process takes around 3-4- months

For landed immigrants - who already landed here but have not got residency yet, should go for this new PR Card.
Here is information from cic.gc.ca
Quote:
The Permanent Resident Card (PR Card) is a new, wallet-sized, plastic card. People who have completed the Canadian immigration process and have obtained permanent resident status, but are not Canadian citizens can apply for the Card. The Card replaces the IMM 1000 as the status document needed by Canadian permanent residents re-entering Canada on a commercial carrier (airplane, boat, train and bus) starting December 31, 2003.

Please remember cic.gc.ca is updating this information quite often, so please visit above link regularly.
Very unlikely.
