Hello all
I came to Toronto via British Airways - 2 way ticket, with a slight twist. I came from Bombay (Bombay-London-Toronto), but my return route is Toronto-London-Madras. But it's a regular 2-way ticket and in fact the return leaflets are also in the same ticket book.
My current return date is Jan 15th (since my W1 Visa was only till Feb 1 2006). I have recently extended my W1 Visa till Feb 1 2007. And right now, I do not have plans to go back soon. I may visit India in September 2006, so I do have the option of changing the return date to sometime in Sep 06. And I can change the return date "once" for free.
But my eventual destination is not Madras, so I will then have to take another domestic ticket from Madras as well as take a one way ticket back to Toronto.
So, I was wondering if I could do something else : cancel my return ticket, and later, when I want to visit India, I can book a 2-way ticket from here (possibly getting a good deal).
So, can I do this? Does British Airways allow you to cancel a 2-way ticket that's already been used one way? If I do that, what % loss will I have to suffer? Also, do they have a stipulated minimum time period when this has to be done - say 15 days in advance, or say 30 days?
Thanks for any help on this front.
Your best bet would be to call BA directly. There may be certain conditions/restrictions on your tickets.
Generally, if you paid the full fare then you would be eligible to get back a substantial amount, but if it was one of those tickets which is 'non-returnable' 'non-cancelable' etc, then you stand to loose.
