Hi,
I want to go to india and get married. I would prefer if i travel with my wife to Canada after being religiously married.
If i do the following will it create any problem legally or otherwise.
I can go to India and get married in a court. Then i can apply for her immigration. From what i understand the process does not take more than 3-4 months. Once she has got her VISA i can travel back to India get married religiously with all the ceremonies etc and then travel back to Canada.
Apart from the expenses is there any other legal or outer isses what i have to consider
Thanks,
Chetan

In that case your marriage date will be the date that you get married in court.
In some situations, the immigration official ask for all sorts of proof about your wedding. Things like wedding invitation card, pictures etc.

Then it might be a problem. I just want to travel to Canada with my wife when i get married and i cannot stay in India for more than 2-3 weeks. What options do i have?

Are you there?
And oh yeah...I wouldn't recommend doing the visitor visa thing and applying from here after having done a religious wedding in India.
Sponsorship and the wait for the visa is a stressful process for both of you anyways, don't overcomplicate it and make it even more so....

One of my friends did this... His fiance applied for and got a student visa to study in Canada , He went to India , married her , both came back to Canada and after a couple of months had a 'register' marriage in Toronto. Maybe you can try this!
On a lighter note: Maybe you can sponsor her as a 'Live-in caregiver'!
