I am plannnig to move back to India for good in 2 years after I get canadian citizenship and then apply for dual citizenship ( OCI ) .
My question is can I work in India or any other country for that matter , once I become an OCI ( Overseas Citizen of India) ?....what r the other limitations as an OCI ? ( I checked our goverment & consulate website, also e-mailed consulate )

also once u apply for canadian citizenship and u don't appear for written test or the oath, what r the implications?...is there any grace period like 90 days before u can take the oath?

why not move back before getting citizenship? You will be ahead by 2-3 years in whatever you want to do after moving back?

u have to take the oath for canadian Citizenship....cant avoid that...I sang "Choli Ke peeche kya hai" when everyone was singing "O Canada"...the idea was to get the can Citizenship and the passport...now I will apply for the OCI...as an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) you have all the rights as an NRI (Non resident Indian) except the following:

1. Cant own Agricultural property in India.

2. Cant Vote in India. and

3. Cant take up a Government job in India...

So get the canadian passport and go back and pick up your career at a senior level again...when u get sick at old age, come back here and admit yourself in an hospital and go on welfare...

Makes sense??? LOL

Getting Canadian citizenship is like buying insurance. Can anyone predict what India is gonna be like in 40 years? Petrol at 300 rupees / liter ? Back to ration raj? Civil war ? An exit strategy is necessary if you return to India.

My question is :
1. How long can you stay in india with a Canadian Passport and still come back to canada and be admitted?

2. If my Canadian passport expires while i am india, where am i supposed to renew it / get a new one? Can i get it at CIC new delhi?

I am writing my Citizenship test on jan. 20 th at Kipling Subway station HRDC and i plan to leave the country for good before the end of this year.
