A warning for the Liberal-minded
By Peter Worthington
With eight days to go before the Jan. 23 election, here's a (facetious) message I received from a Westerner on why he intends to vote Liberal:
- Because I believe in bringing thousands of unskilled people into Canada from the Third World so we can support them on welfare and they can vote Liberal; and this number should be increased annually.
- Because I believe it is fair that Quebec is the sole province allowed to be in charge of its immigration policy; that they receive five times the amount of federal immigration money that Ontario does, even though Ontario has to teach many of them how to speak English, while Quebec only allows immigrants who already know French.
- Because I believe that we should alienate our neighbours to the South; that all Americans are morons and know nothing about Canada; and that we should continue to align ourselves more closely with our true friends, France, China and Russia.
- Because I believe everything the Liberal-controlled media tells me, especially the CBC.
- Because I believe that no one should ever be held responsible or accountable for his or her actions in today's society. It is always someone else's fault.
so what should we think if conservative comes???

If you want to do something for our country, just dont support corruption or be part of it
Did the columnist say this is his view? It sounds like he's relaying a message he received from someone else.
However it does raise an interesting point doesnt it? are thousands of \"unskilled\" immigrants coming in from \"Third world Countries\" and going on \"welfare\" AND voting Liberal?
According to internet research Generally independant category and Business Immigrants are not likely to go on Welfare. Sponsored immigrants , if the sponsership breaks down (ie/ sponser loses job) may however the consensus of different sources seems to be that Immigrants use less public funds (ie welfare) than Canadian borns. Those that do (especially in the larger metro areas) are generally better educated and face other barriers such as lack of recognition of foreign credentials.

Without the intent of hurting any political sentiments, let me say this - the person who wrote the newspaper article is simply twisting things in a different perspective.
Quote:It can also be viewed from a different angle - all those who immigrate pay a lot of $$$ to the Canadian govt. for the immigration process (including application fee for the whole family, landing fee, mandatory settlement funds, lawyer's fees, etc.).

Quote:Isn't that true?
that all Americans know nothing about Canada;
Quote:When did any Govt. claim that China or Russia are "true" friends on Canada?
we should continue to align ourselves more closely with our true friends, France, China and Russia.
