Can anyone help in understanding police verification document requirement and the process for Canada Immigration from USA? THX.
I am in the same boat as yours. Infact my problem is that I am India, and I have to get FBI & state police clearance from USA.
But I guess this link might help

State police clearance? I have only had to get FBI clearanace.
You might want to check up on that.
Go to your local police station and find out were the local FBI office is in your city. Youy might need to call them and take an appointment.
take the letter canadian councellate sent you for FBI clearance. they will look up the computer and see if there is any charges against you. then give you a police clearance letter. they will then take your finger prints . you will need to send these (do not fold the prints) to FBI headquaters with charges (I think they charge 17.50 per person.) they will varify your prints and send them back to you in a few weeks. I dont remember if it was 2 or 4 weeks.
a word of caution: they dont really like doing this so be extra polite on the phone whe you speak to them and dont forget to take the letter with you

Oh really ! and how do you think they get your finger prints. there are specialists who have to take the finger prints for you. I guess you want to send yours via email?
we took an appointment from the office in st paul MN and took the letter we had from the canadian councellate requesting police clearance. An agent came out in the lobby and did the finger printing for us and handed us the forms which we mailed to the address they had supplied to us. with the fee. we then recd out stamped fingerprints back via mail.
thats how it happens. there maybe diff offices that do it in each city. just call your local station and ask where you can have it done. thats what i had done. they gave me the address. as simple as that. it tkk us total of 15 mins to finish the proceedure. but there is no way you can take your own prints and send it to them. and yes they do need somthing that proves as to why you need the prints.
