How predictable......immigrant dominated cities kicked Tories on their ass....it was a singnal to Canadian politicians.....when it come to intellectual decision making....we immigrants beat rest of Canada.....This was a time for change.....it may be our loss by not electing PC.......nothing to smile about
I want to ask Liberal supporters.....why Paul Martin is stepping down.....a defeat after 12 years is not a big issue..........or the L-company is in real mess....Well !!!! Leader is expected to know it best......;)

This is the exact thing that happens in India...........Congress is India's liberals and conservatives are bjp.

BL......how does it feel to be the minority ............One bible pamphlet and all your decisions changed. I am not taking a jab at you but you kind of get a feel to what its like to be on the other side of the fence.

This has really made me think reason for PC's loss.....yes you are absolutely right.......and Liberals have taken advantage of it to the maximum in T-V-M........who would know from where those pamphlet's came in but minority gave their verdict.......some very intellectual descision making process....... :(

The tories have the stage now, let's see what show they put on, certainly hope its a good one. Hopefully they'll tackle real issues rather than focusing their efforts on religious agendas. I'm curious to see how they handle the healthcare issue. In all fairness, Harper should get a fair shot at proving himself.

I think they will govern from the center(vs the right), much like the libs...because thats the canadian way :D

The conservative victory is bitter sweet for me. I wanted the libs to be shaken up without me having to vote conservative or ndp. Lets see what the future holds now. Also got the consolation prize of having the libs win in my riding.

I am kind of happy that the liberals did not get a majority coz they needed to be reminded that theres a limit to the crap people will take and the scandals, the corruption and the unaccountablity is not going to go unnoticed for long.
I did not want the conservatives to form their own government with a huge majority as well.....at the end of the day its win win situation for people who think like me.

As leader he is responsible for the defeat. I'm guessing some of the Jean Chreteins liberals were also hoping for Martin to fall flat on his face. With the infighting and Scandals he had a tough course to navigate.
If it was Chretien at the helm, i dont think the liberal rout would have been as inevitable.

Not in my city - We have an Immigrant woman who is also a Conservative who won in our riding.....but unfortunately this particular person i dont care for as she doesnt appear to be a leader of any sort = doesnt speak well and I cant figure out why she won - she's well known though... though it was only by a few votes.

That was the one that stuck out most. There were a couple of other points that I didn't agree on either. But like I mentioned, one of the biggest reasons I love Canada is the absence of a right wing agenda akin to the one that's prevalent in the states. And for whatever it counts, my vote will not support a party with an agenda like that. You can feel free to disagree, that's why we call this a democracy.

And no, I don't mind being the minority. Like I said before, its irrelevant how anyone voted now. Harper has the stage and only time will tell what kind of show he puts on. A year or two from now, I'll have no issue conceding I was wrong if the fear-mongering was just liberal propaganda. I hope you won't mind admitting you were wrong if it wasn't just liberal propaganda.

At this point in time, I agree with you and Jake that they have to and will rule from the center. At least that's my hope. These things can change pretty quickly so only time knows the truth.
