i bet all you people are highly experienced to give advice in here...but i'd like to know something obvious, if there was a marriage why dont you have legal papers for that? i mean u should have known the circumstances and have got married in court or some blood tests etc...and shouldn't you have shown the visa officer that?? in my opinion mails and photographs can be made in one day....they're not proof enough. And why would a visa officer keep "greeting cards" as proof? You should have consulted a lawyer before the interview especially after the illegal stay in US....still its never too late, get a lawyer dear. and i'd hope the best for you

Pardon me for saying this but the officer's decision looks VERY justified to me. This guy looks like an opportunist who married for the sole purpose of getting a visa.
It is highly unfair when people wait for 6 years to get a visa in the skilled immigrant category to be bypassed by these queue jumpers.
For once the immigration officer seems to have done the right thing. Let's appreciate that!
Hi everyone,
Thanks a lot for your time and advice.
MapleGirl: I do have the marriage certificate of course and everything else that goes with it.
NorthYork: What would you have done? NOT marry your girlfriend? Lets not judge each other.
Rohit: Wife is with me 100% only i feel bad she is there all alone.
Vicky: Thanks
If the visa officer chooses he can refuse all cases of Indo-Canadian arranged marriages as marriages of convenience. It depends on how you look at things. So its very subjective. If you really want to find shortcomings you can always find them.
Looking for a good lawyer now. Any more thoughts appreciated.
Thanks Massood Ji and Garvo G
PS: I found out that phone cards are NOT acceptable as proof. Thank god she used landline too.
"NorthYork: What would you have done? NOT marry your girlfriend? Lets not judge each other."
I sponsored my wife. She got the visa in two months. No interview. No questions were asked. Why was that? I didn't bribe the immigration officer. I didn't hire a lawyer.
Maybe it was because me and my wife had SPOTLESS records.
Maybe it was because I didn't jump the queue to get into Canada.
Maybe it was because I didn't stay anywhere ILLEGALLY FOR TWO YEARS.
Maybe it was because my wife didn't sneak into the country and marry me and wait for her visa to expire before going back and ask me to sponsor her.
Yessir , I would never do a thing like you did.
"Yessir, I would never do a thing like you did"
Fate can make us do things we would never dream of doing Mr NorthYork.
Congratulations on your wife's visa and your ethics.
Have a good day.
no you are not opportunist,
you are not looking for opportunity in canada.
you are modern version of ......
i leave it at that....
v all want to go and settle in canada
and people get married just for the sake of visa
these people are legally married and are in love and have proof of that.
i dont think she can doubt that proof(canadian)
