Here is the cheapest option...

Work in an Indian restaurant as a waiter between 6 PM to 10 PM, eat your free dinner, collect your money and board the Eurorail for your next destination...sleep in the train and avoid hotel charges...next morning see that city by the day, work in the evenings/night and move on....you might save some money for shopping by the emd of the week....I know someone who has done it quite successfully and is planning again.
