How long does the processing takes for spouse visa. Can we apply directly or we have to go with an attorney. Please advise.
Thanks
go on to http://www.cic.gc.ca" rel="nofollow">LINK and you can see all that needs to be done for sponcering a spouse. I personally used a lawyer to do our immigration process because thats how we thought was best and we had a good one who answered our questions and doubts. but that can cost. we paid about 2000$ for the whole process. but there are lot of ppl who do it on their own.
to sponser a spouse can be a little tricky from what i hear from this site . you need a lot of proof about the authenticity of your marriage. and all steps shoiuld e done right. its not supposed to take as much time as other immigration,. It all depends what your case is like. Personally I would use a lawyer but the others will tell you otherwise Right Chandresh!

Sponsering a spouse is no rocket science and i would not advise a lawyer at all for that. Even if you have done the marrriage for convenience, it still does not matter to the immigration officer if you have :
1. proof that you both were married in the form of an affidavit/ marriage certificate.
2. proof to show that both of you were in the marriage site
3. reasonable proof to show that it was a real marriage in the form of pictures, correspondence, invitation etc...
4. you have not used the Canadian Welfare at any time
5. and of course you are a Canadian PR / Citizen residing in Canada.
The other thread which talked about the difficulty in a person being sponsered to canada as a spouse was b'cos he was illegal in US A and he did not have any official documents to show that they were married. So donot confuse an exception with the norm..
