English in Canada is strange mixture between US English and British English, though mostly it follows US English.
Here people prefer to use short and simple sentences and short words. So often it what we speak in India is totally different here.
For example - In India "Mai Ghar Badal Raha hu" in English can be said as "I am shifting my house". Here it is simple "I am Moving"!
Here are some words, the first one we use in India, the second used here
Home - House
Flat - Apartment
Lift - Elevator
Reside, Residing - Live, Living
Where to you reside? - Where do you live?
May I know your name please? - What's your name?
Kaise Chal Raha hai? - What's up?
Though the formal "Good Morning" still works fine, Hi! And Bye are the shortest greeting. What you doin? is most commonly asked question, and the common replies are "Not Bad" and "I am OK".
There are many more differences, but for now I could recollect these only - may be other members can add it, and we will end up with comprehensive Dictionary!!
