Orginally posted by zain I rely on boiled or bottled water instead. I feel boiling is best as we can better ensure quality. Regards

Boiling water takes care of any germs or organisms I thought but what about the chemicals in the water?

Chlorine does. But does Fluoride evaporate too?
I am more interested in removing fluoride.

Numerous sites found on google on this topic say:

Block-charcoal or activated-charcoal systems like Brita do NOT remove fluoride. The fluoride levels in your home drinking water are substantially reduced only if you have a "reverse-osmosis" filtration system.

Reverse Osmosis or RO is not recommended because it removes all the solid particles (good salts also) resulting in one of the problem is brittle of bones.
Best way to drink water is, the way god served it to us.

why are u interestd in removing flouride? As long as the level of flouride is 1ppm ,it is safe to drink. and as far as i know it isnt more than that in Toronto.

this will give u more info..

That is correct.
It has also been observed that if RO water is used to water plants, the plants don't do well or whither away.

Which is?
And how do you plan to acquire such water?
