I was thinking of making a database on canadian desi where fellow desis can upload and download, songs, pictures, movies, other imp files like sample immigration forms and likewise stuff.

I think it would be great idea if we are allowed to have some space for songs,movies and other stuffs where people can request their needs for entertainment... I will upload many stuffs....
Advantage or Disadvantage, It will definitely increase net traffic on Canadian desi...
I do not think this is possible because of copyright issues.

yeah Iceberg is right in saying that copyright will be a problem.
but there are 2 ways of doing it, for ex just check out web site http://www.djgrewal.tk" rel="nofollow">LINK
we can give the links on the forums to the upload song (or anything we want) on other web site. and other user can download it from there.
or the other possible way is peer to peer, but for that we need an excelent online database and good no of users to share there stuff.

I think CD should create a DB of the users also.
This would be a good business idea, as CD is the single most popular website used by Desis all over the world for answers towards immigration towards Canada and as Desis are also one of the largest groups immigrating to Canada.
This would help Desis to unite together under one Flag of the CD to LOBBY with the government on issues related to them. As government would look at numbers and listen to them as every vote counts. May be we could have a direct chat line through CD to Ottawa.
Who knows later down the road a company like RIL Infocomm might make an offer that CD cannot refuse !
