Jake,
In some cases, won't this indicate to your employer that you are desparate for the job and convey to the employer that you have no job at present. This action could lower your salary bargaining capacity.
Just an example :
My wife was working in a software company in Canada. Her manager dod not like her and so she was looking for another job. She got a good job elsewhere. She was desparate to leave her present job. After 2 or 3 days, she was called on the telephone and asked the salary expectations. She said " 40K-45K" (figures are just for expalanaton). So then this person said "OK, we will inform you later". My wife then said " I really like this job and i am willing even to accept 35K to 40K" (Note : A govt. Sponsered training programme has told her not to state any specific anount but to give a range). Nothing was said.
Next day , she received through e-mail, an appointment letter for 35K. She took the job but stillcompalins of losing 5K to10K b'cos she showed that she was desperate for the job.

Few weeks back I had an interview with one of my dream-job-company. Those 60 mins of interview went very well, except 4-5 mins in the 4th quarter.
Anyway, the manager gave me a polished reply "We'll get back to you within next 2-3 days".

Honestly, if I were the manager I would not have hired that guy. Same thing happened. He never "got back" to me!
So, my suggestion: Always consider failure as a learning experience.
And yea, think positive. Stay positive.

The country doesnt have a problem with resumes. If you want your resume to stick out to an employer (out of say a 1000 resumes) you will want to have the best presentation..the easiest to read format (which highlights your skills on the first half of the page) so that the average employer (who spends 2-5 seconds on each resume) puts your resume into the 'yes' or 'maybe' pile. Not the Rejected (because it is written in an unfamiliar format or has some other formatting problems). Its not necessarily 'fair' but its how things are generally for all people - not just Immigrants.

Your concern is not new. In the situation you mentioned above, it sounds like softskills, attitude/interpersonal skills etc are what is the concern to an employer when they indicate you lack canadian experience. Canadian experience is often used as a handy excuse (unfortunately this is the reality even if you dont like it) rather than having to point out to someone that you dont like their: (softskill).

I understand your perception. However every country has merits/demerits. Why did you not apply for US green card rather than Canadian PR?

What made you decide to leave India if you were doing well?
Why is it that so many people who are doing good in other countries (not only India) have to struggle so hard in Canada?
Even after going to immigration aid centres & resume centres here, I did not get more than 1 interview in a job which I was interested in (although a lower designation). The importance of a good resume is paramount whether it is US, Canada or India. I did customize my resume as per the requirements of the job.
Recently one of my contacts who migrated here from Gulf got an job in computer sales as an Account Manager. The salary he is getting is about half than what others are getting in his company for the same kind of job. He was told that since he does not have Canadian experience & contacts in that field, he will get less pay. Many other companies did not offer him a job since they found him over-qualified after they asked him the pay he was getting in Gulf.
I had read an article a few months back in the Calgary Herald or Calgary Sun which mentioned the story of a taxi-driver in Canada. He was a petroleum engineer working with British Gas in the Gulf & yet when he came to Canada, he was told that he was not good enough. The article mentioned that how come he was good for British Gas & not good enough for Canada.
Rgds.
