Ulkesh,

Its really hard to generalize what vancouver's about. What specifically would you like to know? The weather here is generally milder than the rest of Canada (except Vancouver Island). We get 3 weeks of snow (approx) per year. There can be a lot of rain during the year but the summer months of june - august are usually very pleasant and sunny. There is the usual ups and downs of big cities (crime high cost of housing etc... but use common sense). Housing can be expensive..Depending on what city you live in.

The Indian community varies too. Its hard to generalize. Do you have specific questions?

Thanks.

My Questions are,

even groceriy stores etc.

2.Which is the good area to live in Vancouver?

3. if One want to rent apartment whicf is the good and safe area?
4. how about the crime rate compare to toronto?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi There

You will find Indians in every area of Greater Vancouver. The areas which have high density of Indians are Surrey and Vancouver..mostly East Van (I believe). I dont know if its an advantage to live there or not. Those areas are also high crime areas unfortunately.

You will find the largest # of Indian grocery stores in Surrey/Vancouver however you will find them everywhere else too. You can get your groceries anywhere and travel to surrey/Vancouver whenever you need to stock up on certain things.

2. Its hard to say what is a 'good' area. Define good :)
You may want to find a place close to work so you are not commuting very far daily (expensive in terms of Gas and time)

I dont know the crime rate comparison of Greater Vancouver and Greater Toronto. Sorry..Toronto is much bigger in population and I think you can find good areas anywhere..and crime ridden areas anywhere.

hope that helps.

Its nice to hear that you enjoy living in the indian community but what do you think about exploring a new place..meeting people other than those who are familiar? Expanding your network and learning new cultures/ perspectives? You have that opportunity..why stay within the safe confines of a group?

Culture is fluid.. and integrating can happen even if you dont have any indian community around you. It becomes part of who you are.
:)
