I am planning to move from Los Angeles but I don't have option to charge relocation expenses to employer as I am moving on my own and I am sure mover is going to charge around $1000 and I can not drive as my son is 4 month old and don't want to drive more than 3000 miles with infant.
So I am thinkning its not logical as I will have to shell out $1000 for mover and I am sure there is some charge for importing car into canada.
My car is made in Canada so I may get away without modification(it has KM option in it).

I moved from Sanjose last month. I shipped my car to Chicago to my friends place and drove from chicago to Toronto. I feel it is worth bringing my car from US(2000 Camry). I had the car during cold weather and it was really helpful.
It is worth for paying to the mover. If you had put your car in the goods to follow list, u don't need to pay import duty. You have to pay around $200 to the Registrar of imported vehicles. You have to pay for emission and safety test.
On top it, until you buy a car, it will be tough to go around with an infant baby.(but weather is improving now).

You can use google search and look for car movers and call them for competitive rates.
Or in some websites, you can get quotes online like http://www.carmovers.com/ from various companies in 24 hours. Then compare the rates.
I paid US$700 to Chicago as I had a very short time. If you plan ahead of time, you should be able to get a cheaper quote.
