Rajan,
I am glad that you are back in India safely and have adjusted.
I am also glad to hear that you are getting offers. All the best.
Could you share with me and the forum what kind of management positions that are being offered to you and the pay package that they are willing to pay to you. It will benefit so many CD's longing to go back to India.
I would suggest that you take one of these positions, settle down and then start thinking for doing your own business venture but anyways, it is just a non binding suggestion from me. You know better.

Thanks, guys.
1. I am in Baroda, Gujarat. I had been doing good in India before I migrated to Canada so hopefully should do good this time around as well.
2. I am not from the manufacturing industry. Have been in sales of computer software in various positions & was a Sales Manager when I left my job & started my own business in Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) in 2000. Subsequently I migrated to Canada in August 2004 & am back in Baroda in March 2006.
It's been just 4 days since my coming back so really don't know much about the questions that you've asked, Charlie. Also, it is difficult to say how it is working out. I asked my daughter yesterday if she likes it more in Canada or India & she immediately said India.
3. I did not wait to get my Canadian citizenship as waiting for it might have made it more difficult for me & my kids to settle again in India. The kind of money I was making in Canada did not make it worthwhile.
4. One offer that I got is as a Sales manager with a business partner of APC (American power Conversion) for their UPS range of products with a salary offer of around 25-30 K per month. Another offer is for a business partnership for computer peripherals, etc. I still haven't tried seriously for other positions. But will keep on posting as things go forward.
5. The job situation in my field definitely seems to be good. The guys who were working under me earlier are making around 25-35 K per month in Baroda. They work as Branch Managers for companies like Ingram Micro, Compuage, etc. which are Country distributors for many IT products.
6. I don't really have any false illusions about India Shining. There are many fields in which we are lagging far behind countries like Canada. It's just that we could not settle in Canada properly. It can be called a failure on my part, but that's ok. I feel that I can settle down in India again & be more successful than what I could have been in Canada.
Where life takes you, one never knows.
It's not that I did not have a job in Canada, Badmashbaacha. I did get a promotion also in my job in Canada but was not happy with the job, pay & overall social life compared to what I had in India. If I straightaway convert $1500 per month to rupees, I was definitely earning more in Canada than what I could ever hope to earn in India. But it doesn't work that way.
You are entitled to your opinions. If I cared about what people would say, I would not have taken the decision to come back to India. I know of people in USA/Canada who have been successful & yet have taken the decision to come back to India.
Thanks & rgds.
