I early 2005, I worked though an agency (for 3-4 weeks) called LJ Wade in Mississauga. They have not given me T4 slip for filing tax. Their phone numbers have been cut off. They have not responded to my email either. Phone numbers and address are at http://www.ljwade.com" rel="nofollow">LINK

Is there any way to tract this agency and their phone number?

(Else I will attach a letter while filing tax)

I was in a similar situation last year with another agency. When I spoke to my tax consultant they suggested two alternatives and they are as follows:

1.Call IR Agency and request them for a T-4.

2.Locate your last pay stub from this agency. Use the total income, total taxes deducted and use the pay stub (xerox copy) as a T-4. Attach this copy with your tax return.

I took option 2, and I filed by post(I file paper always and not by electronic), and I've already received my tax refund(it took 2 weeks from filing) credited to my account by direct deposit.

who would make you starve, if you don't.'"

RajCanada,

Shankaracharya has put it very well. CRA should have copies of all T4's. They may just give you the figures over the fone, else option (2) should work too.

Shankaracharya, any reason why you file paper copies and not electronic. Getting a refund in 2 weeks by filing a paper copy is not possible, unless you filed it in early Jan. CRA is moving towards paperless, so they can concentrate their effort to tax evaders as opposed to tax payers.

SS,
with due respect, you are wrong in the above statement. CRA is moving towards paperless method so that they can save millions in paper costs.
Also even if every one moves to electronic, then evaders will be more since CRA never checks the tax returns of small income people (which is to say most immigrants). If you file paper returns, then you canot cheat on your returns since you will attach a bill.

To Sankaracharya,
By paper filing , do you mean doing everything on the computer and then taking a paper print out , attaching the bills and sending it to the CRA or will you fill up the form yourself, attach the bills and send it?
TK
Sidenote : I used to do it in a paper format (doing all calaulations myself), but i found that through a tax software, i got more refund and so i am now using a tax software. A tax software gives you more refunds b'cos it is designed to put bby itself some benefits that you maynot be aware yourself. Ontario/Canada tax filing form is very tedious and i guess only qualified CA's can take the max. benefit out of it. just my view.

Disclaimer : I donot sell, endorse or market any tax software. Income tax filing is a complex affair and i am not the appropriate person to indicate to you what is to be done. All the above mentioned views are personal and free from any or all obligation. In Canada, you need to file income tax even if your income is zero. You can be prosecuted by CRA for not filing tax/ cheating / evading etc... In canada, even non citizens residing in Canada need to file taxes. This post does not cover fully the laws of Canadian income tax.

That is not true. CRA has been cracking down on the smaller guys too. Previously copies of various income slips were never sent to CRA, but these days, it is. CRA has even started getting copies of T5's. Yes one may be able to get away with small amount's but that's probably it, and that too not for long.

I'm saying this from almost 1st hand info. My wife works for Softron for the last 8 years. Any claim that seems a bit unreasonable, gets audited. A couple of years ago my parents moved to this country and I showed them as dependents. Guess what... I got audited. They filed their returns that year with my address, so CRA had all their details, but still they wanted to double check. My wife tells me of all about the cases that get audited.

I cannot comment if this is true or not, but I know of people who have not filed for the last 10 years. These people have NIL income, and they haven't been prosecuted.

Raj, sorry to go off topic.
