I think first of all we should respect all races and colors. There are good/bad people in all the communties and races.
Hiring someone is simply matter of skills, knowledge, experience, legal status in country, what he/she can do different than others for this job...
The Indian Bosses know that Indians will work long hours and on weekends without compalining due to insecurity of either being joblessness or miss out on the green card, and they take advantage of this insecurity.

Did you ask them why they thought that and can you please tell us?

You know you are a desi when ........ You spew forth the virtues of India, but don't want to live there...............You've never had a tanning salon membership
My experience with working indians in the USA.
Those indians who are in USA for some time and have a good understanding of north american culture are on par with whites when it comes honesty, sincerity in work, communication, dedication to work. I had honour of working with many Indian IT folks for the last few yrs. Many of them are making 6-figure salary. They are on par with whites in soft skills and much above par in hard skills.
I also have experience of working with Indians who are brought to USA for short term generally 2 to 3 months for knowledge transfer purposes. These folks are hired by multinational outsourcing companies. These folks are a nightmare. They are very rude. He/She is just a data-entry clerk but the e-mails are very bossy. Many of them just try to pass their workload on us. We are two different companies so if I do her work and something goes wrong, my company can get ino legal trouble. So when I try to explain to her that what she is asking me is not part of my job, she wants everything in writing so that she can forward to her boss. Befor this outsourcing thing, i have worked with locals not necessarily whites but mexicans and other minorities. First of all they donot try to pass their jobs on us. They are polite. If they try to pass their work and I say it is not part of job, they understand it and will agree to it. Most of the time they ask us to do these things they are aware that it is not part of my job so they quietly withdraw their request.
I have not kept that word "*****" from my side, and sorry if I hurt someone others feeling. but I have to tell u guys that of which race I was talking bout, and desi's are also called black here. so there is difference between a desi and a actual black.
but for rest I think I am right as I am from IT field, but yeah I will not have problem hiring 2nd gen of desi.
and 2nd thing, when I first came here I thought that a desi should serve desi, for ex:- In our day to day lifes, I prefer having a cab of desi, going to desi stores, and giving my work to desis. but later I realized that the desi are the first one to make fool of fellow desis.
and as far as hiring a person for business is concerend I am practially thinking and not emotionally attaching to a community.
and u know y I would hire a japanese, cause they are the only people who works for their company from heart. and think as their family work and not just a job, that is reason a proffesional from japan will give me a better output then a desi or a white. and it is in their blood to serve their work place and not just changejobs for good salaries. they people prefer working for low pay scale but in the same company.
