Auto Insurance issues.

Hi All,

Had any prior California Driving License holder managed to get their Drivers History from the California DMV.

Though I managed to get my License exchanged for G, I seem to go through some troubles in getting my Insurance.. I terminated my prior AllState Insurance by Feb 2006 as I moved to Canada, it hurts now..

I could manage to get the No claims history from my US insurance agent but continue to feel bit skeptical about DMV in getting the records in time. Did you guys manage to get your Driver record after you left USA.

My little unpreparedness is throwing troubles.. More to expect from the bumpy start in Canada. To some extent its my misunderstanding to have expected a smooth ride with Insurance (other than higher price) and then the Banks..

Hi,

I and my wife had California licence and we surrendered it and got Ontario G licence last month. We too had Allstate insurance. Before coming here, we went to DMV California and got our records immediately by paying $5. Continued with Allstate and after moving here, got Allstate insurance. Called US Allstate and cancelled the insurance. Still yet to get the refund from US Allstate.

Try calling DMV California. I think, you can go to Allstate in Canada and get a better rate too.

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately my transition to Canada was not smooth.
I suffered some unfortunate, unexpected Visa problems when I visited India to stamp my 8th Year Visa, the pain went on and hence I am in Canada.
I called Calif. DMV who've asked to fill a form and send them to provide the DL history, DMV says it will be couple of weeks to get reply.

Hoping for a quicker response from DMV.
