Hello CD Members,
A very close friend of mine in US is struggling with a very unique medical problem. As a Computer Programmer he worked several long hours, using keyboard and mouse a lot and lot in the past 5-6 years and finally ended up with a very bad Carpal tunnel kind of problem (In fact beyond Carpal tunnel, he is suffering from Tendonitis or something to do with the Tendons in both his hands). He finds it hard to hold even the tea cup firmly.. I feel very sad to hear that..
He is under worker compensation now and staying most of the time as suggested by his Doctor and strictly abstained from using Keyboard, Mouse etc.., Unfortunately, due excessive pain in both his hands, he wanted to rush up the treatment and he has been spending money from his pocket to get the treatment as the process of getting offical insurance from employer is moving very slow.
He strongly beleives that the English treatment may not cure him permenantly but for time being. Sometime back I heard from some people who visited India that there are some good Ayurvedic treatments available to treat this kind of problems.
As Ayurvedic doesn't have side effects but the Alopathy, he is more inclined towards Ayurvedic.
Do you folks know any one who had taken such treatment ?
Do you know any specific facility in India who are good in this.
I heard, there are some Ayurvedic treatments available in Kerala but not sure these very specific things are treated.
Its a wake up call to me too, I suffered from this a little while in US, but a month vacation to India usually helped me to overcome this (I mean not using computers other than checking the email)..
Appreciate your response..

Hi
Try this one

This doctor consults all over the world. We are going to mumbai in July for hyperacusis tretment which my sister is suffering from.
Daffodil
My suggestion would be to get a second opinion. Is he a desi living in climate conditions similar to Canada? By that I mean is he living in North-estaern US.
I was diagnosed with Tendonitis. I could not move my left arm. Could not hold anything moderately heavy like grocery bags. I did visit a physio-therapist. After, few treatments (probably 10 or more) he gave up. There was no improvement. So I went to the docotr again. ( My memory is blurr as to the exact events) but finally another doctor treated me and he gave me one injection in the shoulder in one of the hospitals as outpatient. AFter that injection, I have improved a lot.
Bottomline, make sure it is tendonitis before you take any treatments.
He lives in Bay Area, California. ie.., Silicon Valley.
If you could remember the Doctor's name, I could pass it to my friend and we will work to get hold of the Doctor for further discussion.

The details of doctor who gave me injection in shoulder :
I think his name was Dr. Abrahamson. But he is part Toronto East General Hospital.
But you mentioned your friend is from Bay area and not from NorthEast. My impression was that my issue had something to do with adjusting to severe cold conditions.
