Only "Rich" "Famous" people are in this list. How about the senior Desi couple i saw on Toronto airport cleaning toilets. they are also "Peopel of Indian origin in public life". Everyday millions of international travellers see them at work . They too should be mentioned as they are doing a honest days work.

Yes Dr.Sheila Basrur is of Indian origin.

Two University of Guelph professors have been named members of the Order of Canada, considered the country’s highest honour of lifetime achievement.
Biomedical scientist Parvathi (Pari) Basrur and English professor and writer Thomas King are among 79 Canadians appointed to the Order of Canada today by Governor General Adrienne Clarkson.

Born in Kerala, India, Basrur received a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s degree in genetics from the University of Mysore. She moved to Toronto in 1955 and earned a PhD from the University of Toronto. She married Vasanth Basrur in 1956. Their daughter, Sheela, is Ontario’s chief medical officer of health.

Duh!!

Did Lisa Ray had to struggle to get Canadian experience, work odd jobs, deliver pizza, stand in bus lines etc etc?

And she got fame in India, not in public life in Canada

Sorry for the remark, and thanks for letting me know the facts.

But sure, kudos to GG and all his buddies, who made this site happen, that serves as a beacon to prospective immigrants (and a cathartic release for people like me:p)

I do not kow what purpose such a list will serve.

Some one should ask these guys who made it to the top whether they are proud of their Indian origin or not.

I have one guy working with me who is from Goa. He was born in Goa before it was liberated and brought up in India. He left India at age 26. However, probably he is ashamed of his indian origin and hence whenever some one ask him "Where are you from?" He promptly replies "Portugal" He is brown/dark and that makes other to wonder about his nationality. He claims that he has Portugese passport which may not be truth as I am aware that he recently became Canadian Citizen and was having Indian passport. I do not know whether India permitted dual citizenship to people of Goa.

The crux of the matter is that whether the guys in list acknowledge their Indian origin and more important are proud of it or not.
