Even In India, we would have seen these differences between students entering college from a village/small town school with mother tongue (local language) medium of instruction. They may be found lacking initially in soft skills compared to others who come from convent or public school, with English medium instruction. I have found that in most cases, the former sincere, hard working, very good in core subjects like mathematics. I have also found that the latter flaunting and bragging about their English knowledge/soft skills, but otherwise very weak in core subjects. Same was the case at workspot. Workmen, who were not fortunate to have college education, would give excellent suggestions that gave cost reduction or improved production by lakhs of rupees.
There was this gentleman who prided in calling himself "Brewer Muthu" and attended the employment readiness course conducted by our consultant in mid 2004. He was very confident that he would be able to find a job in one of the distilleries. We had exchanged all our e-mail ids (Incidentally our consultant discourages or sees to it that we don’t have contacts with people whom they claim to have settled earlier in thousands, for best known reasons). Though he went to Canada, don’t know whatever happened of him.
Would it not been better, if the Canadian Govt had arranged with any of these liquor manufacturing Cos. to adapt our newcomer "Brewer Muthu" on a training programme of say 10 months, teach him not only how they manufacture alcohol in Canada, also the "cologne wearing" skills (wouldn't take more than a few weeks to learn these, I bet). His years of experience in breweries in India would have been a great asset to Canada. The Canadian distillery industry also owes to the Canadian society/nation, to give such training programs to newcomers. This is what the PM Stephen Harper is talking about as "Win-Win situation". But sadly he is only "talking" about it.

A(edit: few) question(s)...you are assuming that they think behind your back...they have not told you about it, have they? If they have not, why dont you believe them when they are 'good on your face'? Back home nobody talked about you behind your back? if they did, did you worry about it as much? How come you have inferiority complex now? Is it helping any? Is there a monkey on your shoulder? Is the monkey dragging you down?
I'm honestly trying to be helpful to you.
