Kakanik,
Thanks a lot.
it is really helpful.
i would like to know though, what are the minimum requirements, what if i am not going to have an elaborate marriage and all, if its gonna be a court/civil marriage (whatever that's called), and i wont be goin on a honeymoon right away.
I do understand that the more proff i show, the better it is, but what are the official minimum requirements ?
Thanks a lot once again.

First of all, you have to tell the board if you will be marrying on a work permit or on a PR visa.
If it is PR visa and a first marriage, it is the most easiest of all sponserships. If this were to happen in my case, i would show letters for atleast 1 year (dating , as they call in Canada- I would cook up letters for this period. When cooking up letters dated a year back, try to make the letter look a year old by crumpling it, folding it, ironing it etc...). I would also do all other stuff as told by the other individual in this board. The more evidence the easier it is to get.
There are officially no minimum requirements for documents except for the only factor that the visa officer has to be convinced. So try to cook up other stuff which is in the list given by the other individual.
In my view, this is needed obsolutely :
1. Engagement (cards/pictures)
2. Wedding (card/Pictures)
3. Correspondence (phone/e-mail/snail mail-for 1 year or atleast 6 months-in the correspondence, tell about how parents fixed your marriage as per indian tradition)
4. Name change in the passport to reflect your family name/ first name/ last name to the lady spouse)
5. Copies of telegrams / e-mails that congradualte your wedding
6. Gifts given to spouse by on line shopping stores
