27% extra reservation is starting from next year in India. Surprise no one from BJP (Advani) and other parties speak a single word but when talking about Temple they start making rally all over country.
Mr. Narayana Murthy said " India is only country where people fight to get into backward".
But one thing people can be little happy that H1 visa and immigration don't have any quota. I am feeling little happy that I am living in world where people are treating fair and equal as compare to India but also sad still India is divided into castes even after 60 yrs of independence .
I know there are lot of people will not agree what I said but that is my personal thoughts.
I will be the first to disagree.
Even though i am from a not so backward caste (and i have never benifited from the reservation in my life), i will support reservations!
Just a reflection of your H-1B visa issuing country, was the one which used slaves in the past. It needed an Abraham Lincon to abolish it.
Even Canada, has racism and does not recogonise foreign credentials. That is also a kind of reservation but in this case it is supporting forward castes and neglects backward castes. Will you support Canada, if you were not able to get a proper professional job due to racism and non recognition of your foreign credentials?
I read recently in the news that Canada wants to include more aboriginals in the army. How funny is that. Why do they not want to include more aboriginals in the govt. service? They want to increase their presence in the army so that these people can die in afganistan etc..
There will come a time, when India will abolish the reservation system. But today is not the right time to abolish it. I support reservation as a moderate and not as a fanatic. It would be nice to see our servant's daughter (who is of lower caste and has 4 girl siblings) to become a doctor in TN and treat patients !!. I would really be proud of that day. !!!
I am not sure why Narayana murthy made such a statement! but he deserves to be disciplined for that statement (if he made it). He can talk about corruption , red tape etc... but not against reservations.
I am also happy to note that our CM of TN Mr.Karunanithi has said that TN leads in reservations and that reservations will not produce inferior professionals.
To share a true incident, a lower caste boy studied architecture with me. He did not know proper english and was a bit dull. He failed 1 years but he managed to scrape through the course. He was appointed in L&T as an architect (this was only through skill). He used to make some mistakes and his english was poor. He is now a chief project architect in Dubai working for L&T. So he made it and it is only b'cos of reservation. If there was no reservation he would be still in B.Sc. tamil and god knows what he would have become. His whole family will be benifited by this incl. his parents and siblings (none of the siblings became professionals and he still send money to them)

I am a Gents and not a Ladies.
Everybody supports reservation basis of economic background and resource availability not just someone belong to some caste. Why people deserve reservation those can afford everything and rich just because they belong to some caste?
A Hindu Brahmin can be poor in some village of India who needs reservation and need to support his family and make change in next generation.
So do we need extra 10% extra reservation on top of already coming next near for economics backward upper caste?

have you thought about what happens to quality of doctors , engineeers or whoever who comes into fray just because of caste by having just about 60% in the professional assessment against a person having 85% or even 95 %.
What happens to those people .........
what happens to us ...ultimately we will have to face the doctore, engineers, architects etc .........
Have you heard of " vote bank politics" that is what is happening.........
Also Narayanamurthy is one of the most respected man in india .....so give him some credit ........he , along with others have created Infosys and is very greatly responsible for having put India on the world map and today is recruiting frsh graduates from top US univ also. he must be talking some sense........
Yeah it would be nice to see a "servant's daughter" as you deem to call them to become a doctor and yeah that would be economic background reservation which is what many people are supporting.
I don't agree with reservation at all.
They can waive their fees if they are from poor families but this is 'no,no' & actually right now I don't think in India there is any racism going on, I, from my personal experience know that we hardly think of anybody's caste.
Actually we are in a age where there should not be a column of 'caste' in our application forms. If there is a condition that only 90% will get through the admission process, so this rule should be uniform throughout.
Also I feel once the reservation starts, every doctor should be given a certificate from the college, showing what percentage he got & how many years he took to complete his degree & compulsorily he has to post this certificate in his office where everybody can see, so that we know what talent our doctor has gotten. Really I don't want my family to go to a doctor who has taken 9 years to complete his degree.
when I was in 12th I had a lecturer who used to take 'Botany' lecutres, he was from reservation quota. He had bad English, he brought notes with him everytime but was unable to explain them. All of us in the class used to correct him all the time. We went several times to the principal but he couldn't do anything about it, I guess.
the government can do all the financial help for these families like we get child benefit/family support etc.
