For CD's enlightenment :
In India, there used to be just 3 branches of christianiy - Chatolic , Protestant and Pentecost (off shoot of protestant). In Canada, the majority population is Catholic and Protestant. We also do however have Pentecost, Jehovah's witness and the Mormons. I have not been troubled by the Jehovah's witness (JW) except for finding their magazine at a TTC seat or being handed out their magazine (Awake) at a bus stop. I generally read that to pass time whilke traveling in the TTC. I have also read in their magazine that JW was banned in Australia some decades back and how the JW worked under ground in Aussie land during those days.
I have however been talked to by the Mormons while traveling in the TTC. They are dressed in Black suit (and they call themselves missionaries) and you can find them in many TTC. They talked to me about the founder of mormon and asked me if they can drop off a Mormon Bible at my house. I said yes and gave them my address but they did not come. They claim that Mormon was founded by a prophet born in the USA. I have also seen some Gora's diagree with them in the TTC.
To the topic's discussion, if you are uneasy about them, you can frankly tell them your views. They and you are in a country which gives you the 100% freedom of choice. You need not be ashamed of what they might think if you tell them that you are not interested. Just follow your heart and tell them that your wish is not to be disturbed.

I am a Gents and not a Ladies.
Shankaracharya,
never open door without seeing who is there, I have experienced this too many times, every time I had 2 ladies though. The only thing is I could see them coming from my window so I was prepared, I don't open the door when I see them, they mostly come in formal dress. Once my son did open the door so I went & talked to them, I have never allowed them in though, whenever they offer to have discussion, I tell them it is not right time or I am busy.
Once the lady insisted on something about peace & how Christian religion is better. I had plainly asked, 'what is wrong with 'Hindu' religion? whatever you teach the same things my religion has taught us & I am very happy & proud to be Hindu'. They are also ready for this kind of situation, she immediately said,'oh dear I am not asking you to change your religion, let's discuss about how god can give us more peace in this world that we all need'.
I would suggest don't open the door completely, always stand in a way, don't let them in.
I respect christianity & have worked in christian organisation for all this years.
Gandhiji about christianity "to be a good Hindu also meant that I would be a good Christian. There was no need for me to join your creed to be a believer in the beauty of the teachings of Jesus or try to follow His example. Hinduism teaches the same great truth and Mohammedanism and Zoroastrianism, too."
I guess these Johova people are somebody even we christians also keeps a distance with. They are not exactly christians ( followers of Jesus Christ) But instead they claims they have direct link with the god and stuff like that. They are so annoying that, we sometimes had to say "get lost". These kind of forceful religious preaching never practised in christianity.
