I used KLM to/fro India two times, and I am satisfied (not pleased) with their service. Never had any issues - plane were always ahead of time, no lost baggage, OK food. Only trouble is that while coming back to Canada, I was forced to sit for 8 hours on Schiphol before I could get a flight to Toronto.
Smoking is allowed in Schiphol restaurants - a big issue for people like me who are allergic to smoke. Restaurants are expensive. I asked for a small coffee, and it was really small. I cannot sleep in the plane and that makes my stay at airport more miserable. Most of the stuff in duty free airport is expensive, and since euro is expensive than CND, stuff becomes more expensive.
Anyway, after my trip, I googled "airline quality" and came across interesting site. It rates airlines and airports. There are only 3 airlines that get 5 stars. All 3 are asian.
I am surprised that KLM gets same rating as Air India and Air Canada. I have not travelled with later two, but heard many complaints
