Hey TK,

Going to the UAE sounds good. You never know you might join the ranks of millionaires there.

I think a recent article, about the same time that the one on courtesy came out, stating the mighty TO ranked 3rd, another survey came out saying there were 232,000 millionaires here in Canada but that the UAE or the ME had the highest concentration.

You're a draftsman, probably some kind of hotshot underemployed engineer.
The Al-Burj there is considered in many surveys as the best hotel in the world. Also there is talk that DXB plans to build the tallest man made structure even bigger than the CN tower.

Maybe you can be part of that team.

By the way, does anybody on the forum think he/she/Victor/Victoria is a part of the 232,000 millionaires in Canada?

Does anybody remember the flick Victor or Victoria?

I landed here in GTA last year July,2005 with my family as a PR.Yet, I didn't get the job in my own field.Only doing the survival jobs.In the mean time, I got a choice from one of recruitment consultant from India advising me to arrange the interview in Sharjah,Germany or India. He is asking my remuneration expectation and time required to join me for one of these places. He is going to arrange telephonic interview as a Manufacturing Head . How should I handle this situation?
I don't want to loose my PR status also.My children are grown up and studying here in GTA High School. Please advice.

People have a tendency of digressing from the issue and venting out their own feelings .That shd b avoided and as long as it is not unfair 1 shd have the liberty of self criticism , city state or country -- nothing wrong with that . Were we not critical of r own birth countries that v migrated ?

Monu Singh - Have u thought of keeping ur family in canada and work urself in these new locatins .That way if ur spouse goes on to gain citizenship , u are a de facto permanent resident .

Manasvi,

Thanks,
Yes I am thinking to keep my family in Canada and work myself in these new locations for next 3 to 5 years. What are the other options? Please advice.
Just want to ask what is the meaning of being a de facto permanent resident?
How and when I will get the Canadian citizenship by working on these new locations ? Please advice.

Monu Singh

I started coming to this site over a year ago so that I could be of assistance/learn from others - advice/a resource for people that have questions and I enjoy the banter, occasional silliness and humanity we all share.

I enjoyed some of the debates because they offer differing perspectives and allow for broadening of our own beliefs and knowledge.

However. I am very tired of

a) The constant Canada bashing - whether direct or indirect.

b) The way one individual has manipulated this site to be his personal counselling board. Personally i dont CARE about this individual's personal problems, or his lack of ability to handle his own life.

c) This thread as an example: Getting information is one thing. When an individual goes off on an tangent as an excuse to let the public know how much better he thinks he is than others..and comparing other places to Canada - I wonder..what benefit is this to the greater CD community? How is this helping others learn about Canada? If this individual needs friends..he should do it in his own email/space and not take up a public forum.

d) This all leads to the digression of threads (which I acknowledged to have been a part of), and in my opinion a very NEGATIVE feeling on the site overall. How is this helping any of us?

I now try to avoid responding to trolls on any discussion boards but this issue has hit close to my heart. Ignoring this has NOT made the problem go away.

Negative remarks about Canada, or Canadians are just as toxic and useless as Negative remarks about India or any other country.

Im sorry to say that I didnt realize how negative I was feeling the more i stayed on CD recently. I have been away from it for a few days (as you may have noticed) and surprisingly...I FEEL better. Thats a really sad thing.

I really like CD and would like to do what I can to help and learn from members of our community. However I would like to request publically that this individual be not allowed to post any longer.

If I have over stepped my bounds here I apologize - and will remove myself from this community permanently.

Actually, I couldn't have said it any better myself MR. I also have decreased the number of posts in a day, due to all the negativity, and also because of the way one or two individuals seem to just take over the forum. I try to keep my posts short and simple too these days.

By the way MR, I've missed reading your insightful comments on CD. I do hope that the mods of this site realise that the behaviours of these one or two individuals are driving away the more respected members of CD.

MR and PP,

I'll respond in a bit more detail when I get a chance. Your point is noted, but I do disagree with you on some counts here...

Should we actually be feeling negative coz of "one or two individuals" ???
No matter what their views and opinions may be, IF it can affect "us" so much, I think there must be a problem with "us".....
Maybe it is the lack of confidence in "our" own beliefs ???... so much that they are affected by someone who "we" know/think is totally wrong ???

Views and opinions are bound to vary, and just because someone's views and opinions happen to be totally contradictory to ours doesnt mean that we should let them affect us, no matter how much we are "bombarded" with them....

My above comments are not about whether we should be banning/restricting members on the forum.... its about whether you should let it affect you....

Hello Morning Rain

Are you a born Canadian? Or Naturalized Canadian?

CD members and I know that you are a proud Canadian!

I do meet large number of Canadians in the GTA. I had an opportunity to talk to one British Born (Scotland) and he is a Naturalized Canadian and he told me that he is Canadian by Passport?!

I did not see any happiness in his reply.

Similarly, I met one Newfoundland guy on the Transit Stop and he is disagreeing that Newfoundland is not part of Canada?!

And what's your point? Both are isolated incidents (although I can't understand what you mean by not seeing any happiness" in the brit's reply. What did you want him to do? Jump up and down with joy and do a couple of cartwheels?). The chap from Newfoundland was either pulling your leg, was a dopey idiot or just plain dumb crazy. You find people like these all over Canada (and in India as well, separatism is just another form of fragmentation, a common human ailment :D )

That doesn't mean that one shouldn't take pride in being a Canadian - natural born or otherwise.
